Product description
Originating from the United States in California’s Sonoma County region, specifically drawing from premier sites within the Alexander Valley and Dry Creek Valley subregions, Seghesio Sonoma Zinfandel represents a landmark expression of heritage Californian winemaking. Founded in 1895 by Italian immigrants Edoardo and Angela Seghesio, the estate has played a pivotal role in shaping Sonoma County’s viticultural history for over a century. The winery’s philosophy focuses on sustainable vineyard management, dry farming where possible, and preserving century-old vine stocks to craft Zinfandels of exceptional depth, balance, and regional authenticity.
Wine Description
The wine displays a deep, dark ruby purple colour in the glass. An intense and fragrant bouquet opens with lush aromas of ripe wild blackberry, dark plum, and raspberry jam, integrated with spicy accents of white pepper, sweet cinnamon, cocoa powder, and toasted oak. On the palate, it is full bodied, plush, and generous, offering rich layers of dark cherry, boysenberry, and baking spice, balanced by a fine streak of lively natural acidity. Framed by smooth, supple tannins and a well-integrated alcohol structure, it finishes long and warm with lingering notes of dark chocolate and crushed stone minerality. Composed predominantly of Zinfandel blended with small portions of Petite Sirah, Alicante Bouschet, and Carignan to enhance depth and structure, it combines classic Zinfandel fruit intensity with refined structure, vibrancy, and polished elegance.
