Product description

This exceptional white wine is produced by SpearHead Winery, an acclaimed estate nestled on the benchlands of South East Kelowna within the East Kelowna Slopes Sub-GI of British Columbia's Okanagan Valley. Recognized as Canada's 'Winery of the Year' and 'Best Performing Small Winery' at the 2024 National Wine Awards, the estate focuses intensely on premium quality and distinct regional expressions under the expert direction of winemaker Grant Stanley. The newly released SpearHead Pinot Gris 2025 highlights the winery's philosophy of showcasing specific terroirs of the Central Okanagan Valley through careful lot selection and minimal intervention.

Wine Description

  • Colour: Pale lemon in the glass.

  • Aroma: The nose is fresh and bursting with fragrant notes of baked pear, pink grapefruit, and a distinct hint of orange marmalade, occasionally showing a subtle flinty or slightly reductive edge.

  • Palate: Bright, steely, and wonderfully precise on the palate, layering rich flavours of poached pear, cantaloupe, and just-ripe nectarine.

  • Body: Medium-bodied with a beautifully plush and enhanced texture.

  • Finish: Juicy and vibrant with a clean finish driven by crisp, crunchy acidity and a perfectly balanced interplay of subtle sweetness.

  • Varietal Composition: 100% Pinot Gris.

  • Stylistic Notes: Hand-harvested and gently pressed, 90% of the juice was cold-fermented in stainless steel to maintain crispness, while 10% was fermented in neutral French puncheons to build mouthfeel and complexity. It represents an incredibly drinkable style that was bottled in February 2026, with only 826 cases produced.

  • Alcohol by Volume: 13.0%

  • Organic Status: Not certified organic, but farmed with deep respect for sustainable agricultural practices.

Food Pairing

  • Seared scallops served with a citrus-infused beurre blanc.

  • Mild to medium-spiced Thai green curry.

  • Creamy, indulgent cheeses like Triple-cream Brie.

Vintage Quality

The 2025 growing season in the Central Okanagan marked an incredibly strong, emotional rebound for local vineyards following severe winter challenges in preceding years. Consistently warm and highly favourable weather conditions supported steady flavour development and uniform ripening without the strain of extreme heat spikes. Yields beautifully bounced back to surpass historical averages, delivering fruit of impressive expression, natural balance, and crisp acid retention.
