Product description
This intriguing white wine is crafted by SpearHead Winery, a highly acclaimed estate located on the benchlands of South East Kelowna in the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia, Canada. Recognized as Canada's Number 1 Winery of the Year in 2024, the estate operates under a philosophy dedicated to premium quality and true cool climate regional expression under the guidance of winemaker Grant Stanley. Following severe winter freezes that impacted local vineyards, the winery showcased outstanding adaptability by sourcing pristine fruit from premier Pacific Northwest partners, creating their innovative 'Dual Citizen' series to continue offering remarkable bottlings.
Wine Description
Colour: Bright, very pale pastel pink with crystal clarity.
Aroma: A lifted and aromatic nose delivering vibrant scents of lemon zest, tangerine, pink grapefruit, and elderflower, complemented by hints of sweet floral blossoms and candied strawberry.
Palate: Smooth, rounded, and plush on the mid palate, offering refreshing flavours of peach, pear, gooseberry, and red apple, subtly accented by notes of white cherry and orange blossom.
Body: Light to medium body with a highly pleasing and textured mouthfeel.
Finish: Very good length on a clean, crisp finish characterized by a touch of sea salt and a strong, stony mineral backbone.
Varietal Composition: 100% Pinot Noir sourced from the De Vries Vineyard situated in the Yakima Valley within Washington State.
Stylistic Notes: Strikingly balanced, crisp, and slightly off-dry, the SpearHead White Pinot Noir is produced using a gentle whole bunch press with minimal skin contact—only two hours—to prevent colour bleeding. The juice undergoes a cool temperature fermentation in stainless steel below 10°C, which is intentionally stopped via refrigeration to retain a touch of natural, genuine fruit sweetness before spending crucial time on its fine lees.
Alcohol by Volume: 13.0%
Organic Status: Not certified organic, though minded with highly sustainable vineyard management practices.
Food Pairing
Refreshing cucumber salad or fresh grilled vegetables.
Grilled shrimp with lemon and fresh herbs, or light seafood selections.
Soft, creamy artisanal cheeses such as Camembert.
Vintage Quality
The 2024 vintage required exceptional innovation due to severe winter frost conditions across the Okanagan Valley. By collaborating with growers in the Yakima Valley, the winemaking team successfully secured pristine Pinot Noir grapes that achieved excellent flavour concentration and ideal structural balance, ensuring a highly successful and vibrant release.
