Product description
This structured and 'crystalline' white wine originates from New Zealand, within the world-renowned Marlborough region on the northern tip of the South Island. Produced by Stoneleigh a benchmark estate established in 1980 the 'Latitude' range takes its name from the specific microclimate of the "Golden Mile" in the Wairau Valley, where stony riverbed soils sit along an ideal latitude for slow, balanced grape ripening. The vineyard floor is covered in sun-bleached river stones ("sun stones") that absorb heat during the bright Marlborough days and radiate warmth back up into the canopy at night. This unique thermal dynamic, combined with cool maritime night breezes, allows Sauvignon Blanc to achieve intense tropical phenolic maturity while maintaining a razor-sharp, mouthwatering natural acidity.
Wine Description
Stoneleigh Latitude Sauvignon Blanc presents a luminous, pale straw-yellow color in the glass with bright chartreuse and platinum reflections along the rim. Its sensory profile is exceptionally fresh, high-toned, and complex, delivering an energetic, explosive, and precisely focused portrait of stony Wairau Valley terroir. The bouquet opens with a soaring display of passionfruit, white peach, and ripe pink grapefruit, seamlessly layered with complex underlays of lemongrass, crushed tomato leaf, flint, and a distinct line of wet-stone minerality. On the palate, the wine is light-to-medium-bodied, sleek, and athletic, showcasing a vibrant core of crunchy tropical fruits, lime curd, and sweet melon. It is characterized by its outstanding inner energy and an incisive, mouthwatering backbone of natural acidity that cuts cleanly across the mid-palate. The mouthfeel is broad, weightless, and linear, carrying into an extraordinarily long, dry, and mineral-driven finish accented by persistent notes of lime peel, flint, and saline sea spray.
