Strathcona Spirits 'Dreamland on Fire' Canadian Whisky

Dreamland on Fire is a poignant, limited-edition release from Strathcona Spirits Distillery, Edmonton’s first craft distillery. This whisky was created to commemorate the first anniversary of a devastating fire that occurred at the distillery on December 18, 2024. The spirit is a literal "survivor," crafted from a selection of casks that were stored in a part of the building that evaded the flames. Released in late December 2025, it serves as both a tribute to the distillery's resilience and a "thank you" to the community that supported them during their year-long recovery.

Spirit Description

This expression is the 13th release in the distillery's experimental Dreamland series. It is a 7-year-old blended whisky featuring a high-rye base blended with single malt. True to the distillery’s penchant for unique cask finishes, this survivor’s blend was matured in Armagnac and Cognac casks, which imparts a sophisticated, old-world fruitiness to the rugged Alberta grain.

On the nose, it offers a complex profile of toasted oak, dried stone fruits, and a hint of the signature rye spice. The palate is rich and velvety, delivering deep notes of apricot, plum, and honey from the brandy casks, balanced by a sharp, peppery finish. It is bottled at 44.4% ABV, offering a robust but elegant drinking experience.
