Product description

Stratus Vineyards, located in the Niagara-on-the-Lake sub-appellation of Ontario, Canada, is widely recognized as a benchmark producer for sustainable, gravity-flow winemaking in North America. Operating out of the world’s first LEED-certified winery, Stratus focuses heavily on low-intervention viticulture, low yields, and meticulous plot-by-plot harvesting.

The Stratus Decant Cabernet Franc 2020 is one of the estate's most distinct flagship releases. Produced only in exceptional years, it is bottled in a custom-designed, asymmetrical bottle created by renowned designer Karim Rashid. The bottle features a series of angled cuts that act as a built-in decanter, catching sediment as the wine is poured—a nod to the estate's philosophy of bottling wines unfiltered and unfined.

Wine Description

The Stratus Decant Cabernet Franc 2020 displays an opaque, deep ruby-purple core. On the nose, it opens with powerful and seductive aromas of ripe black cherry, wild blackberry, and crushed red plums, seamlessly interwoven with notes of roasted red pepper, tobacco leaf, dark cocoa, graphitic minerality, and subtle toasted oak spice.

On the palate, the warm and pristine 2020 vintage comes through clearly. It is full-bodied, rich, and plush, yet maintains remarkable definition and poise. Dense, velvety tannins wrap around a concentrated core of dark fruit, dried herbs, and dark chocolate. Vibrant acidity provides a firm spine that carries the wine into a long, warming, and savory finish.

Crafted from 100% Cabernet Franc and aged in select French oak barrels, this unfiltered release offers incredible immediate intensity while possessing the structural depth to age gracefully in cellar over the next 10–15 years.
