This superb example of aged tawny Porto originates from the Douro Valley in Portugal, specifically sourced from the prestigious vineyards of the Cima Corgo and Douro Superior subregions. Established in 1692, Taylor Fladgate is one of the oldest and most respected Port houses, remaining independent throughout its three-hundred-year history. The winery is a leader in winemaking technology, pioneering techniques such as piston fermenters often called 'Port Toes' to extract greater flavour and aroma than conventional methods. Their 10 Year Old Tawny is a masterfully crafted blend of tawnies with an average age of ten years, matured in seasoned oak casks in the firm's tranquil cellars in Oporto.

Wine Description

The Taylor Fladgate 10 Year Old Tawny Port presents a deep brick colour with a characteristic amber rim. The sensory profile is rich and elegant, featuring a nose that combines ripe berry fruit with a delicate nuttiness and subtle notes of chocolate, butterscotch, and fine oak. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, smooth, and silky, showcasing concentrated flavours of ripe figs and jammy fruit. It is characterized by its mellow complexity and a long, persistent finish that reveals hints of toffee and caramel. This fortified blend is composed of traditional Port varieties, including Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Barroca, Tinta Roriz, Tinto Cão, and Tinta Amarela. The wine has an ABV of 20% and a high residual sugar content of approximately 105 g/L.
