Product description
Padre Azul Añejo Tequila is a super-premium aged tequila produced in Jalisco, Mexico, within the Tequila Valley (Lowlands) region. The brand was founded in 2014 by Austrian entrepreneur Hans Peter Eder and his friends following his marriage into a Mexican family, building a bridge between Austria and Jalisco. Crafted under the guidance of Master Distiller Erika Sangeado, the name "Padre" is inspired by the popular Mexican phrase "que padre" (meaning how fantastic or wonderful). The brand is instantly recognizable by its striking, hand-blown bottle clad in a laced leather jacket and crowned with a heavy, solid-metal skull stopper.
Spirit Description
The tequila is made from 100% blue Weber agave grown in the Tequila Valley for up to 10 years before harvest. The agave hearts are slow-cooked in traditional masonry brick ovens, fermented spontaneously, and double-distilled at low temperatures in stainless steel pot stills. To qualify as an Añejo, the spirit is matured for at least 18 months in hand-selected, charred oak ex-bourbon barrels.
Colour: Rich yellow-amber with bright golden-orange reflections.
Aroma: Decadent and dessert-like, the nose is heavily dominated by coffee bean, burnt caramel, sweet vanilla, and caramelized nuts, which give way to sweet dried cherry, apricot, and faint cooked agave.
Palate: Velvet-smooth, rich, and heavily texturized. The palate mirrors the confectionery notes of the nose, delivering distinct layers of dark chocolate, cinnamon spice, creamy vanilla, and dried fruits.
Body: Heavy-bodied and viscous with a noticeably thick, mouth-coating texture.
Finish: Extremely long, sweet, and smooth with a warming trace of baking spice and toasted oak wood.
ABV: Bottled at 40% (80 Proof).
