Product description
Originating from Italy in the Trentino-Alto Adige region, specifically within the Alto Adige DOC appellation, Cantina Terlan Pinot Noir 2025 represents a refined, alpine, and highly mineral expression of cool-climate Italian viticulture. Founded in 1893, Cantina Terlan (Kellerei Terlan) is globally recognized as one of the world's premier cooperative wine estates, situated along the sun-drenched Tschöggl mountain slopes of the Adige Valley. The estate's vineyards for Pinot Noir (locally known as Blauburgunder) are planted between 400 and 600 metres above sea level on steep, south- to southwest-facing slopes comprised of quartz-porphyry volcanic bedrock and sandy-loam soils. Under head winemaker Rudi Kofler, the winemaking philosophy focuses on manual harvesting, gentle destemming, temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel vats with gentle cap management, and maturation for seven to ten months in large oak casks (botti) and concrete vats. The result is a vibrant, elegant red wine that balances alpine berry freshness, fine savory spice, and distinct volcanic minerality.
Wine Description
The wine presents a luminous, clear medium ruby red colour with delicate garnet reflections along the rim. An expressive, highly perfumed bouquet opens with noble aromas of ripe wild strawberry, sour red cherry, raspberry, and red currant, interwoven with sophisticated notes of dried rose petal, violet blossom, forest floor, subtle clove spice, and crushed volcanic stone minerality. On the palate, it is medium bodied, silken, and energetic, delivering concentrated flavours of crisp red berries, tart cranberry, and savoury mineral earth, all supported by a bright, mouthwatering spine of natural alpine acidity. Framed by smooth, fine-grained tannins and a supple, finely balanced mid-palate structure, it concludes with a long, persistent finish marked by lingering red fruit, alpine herbs, and a clean flinty grip. Composed of 100% Pinot Noir, this 2025 release offers an optimal drinking window spanning 2026–2032. Stylistically, it combines Alto Adige precision, energetic acidity, and delicate varietal polish.
