Product description
This structured and 'artisonic' red wine originates from the United States, within the prestigious Napa Valley region of California. Sourced from choice hillside parcels, this boutique label is crafted under a winemaking philosophy that embraces low-intervention viticulture and site transparency. The name "The Abandonment" represents a conceptual nod to leaving behind rigid, commercial winemaking formulas in favor of raw, unmanipulated terroir expression. Rooted in well-drained, low-fertility soils, the vines naturally experience moderate hydric stress, forcing root systems deep to yield small, intensely concentrated berries.
Wine Description
The Abandonment Cabernet Sauvignon presents an opaque, deep purple appearance with dark crimson shades shimmering at the rim. Its sensory profile is bold, deep, and heavily extroverted, unfolding a pronounced bouquet of dark black fruits including crème de cassis, fresh blackberries, and black plums layered with fragrant notes of dried sage, espresso bean, dark chocolate, and a classic hint of graphite. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, concentrated, and richly textured, showcasing an expansive core of blackberry preserve, blueberry, and savory spice. It is characterized by its outstanding structural balance, driven by a vibrant backbone of acidity that keeps the heavy extraction perfectly focused and fluid. The mouthfeel is substantial and well-knit, supported by grippy, fine-grained tannins that glide into a lengthy finish highlighted by lingering tones of cedar, wood smoke, and dried tobacco leaf.
This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon was fermented in small, temperature-controlled lots with gentle punch-overs to maximize flavor extraction while avoiding aggressive seed bitterness. The wine reached a robust alcohol content (ABV) of 14.5% and was matured for roughly 18 to 22 months in premium French oak barrels (utilizing a generous percentage of new oak) to naturally frame the muscular structure before bottling. While the estate implements precise agricultural management across its vineyard blocks, this bottling is not certified organic.
