The Arran 25 Year Old

The retired Arran 25 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky originates from Scotland, in the Island region on the Isle of Arran at the Lochranza Distillery. Established in 1995, the distillery marked a historic rebirth of legal whisky distilling on the island after more than a century of inactivity. Owned by Isle of Arran Distillers Ltd., an independent operator, the estate continues to utilize traditional distillation methods and pure mountain rain water sourced from Loch na Davie.

Spirit Description

This flagship single malt displays a rich mahogany, warm copper appearance in the glass. The aromatic nose reveals a complex bouquet of rich oak, nutmeg, baked ripe figs, sultanas, and dark cherries, accented by subtle hints of leather and marzipan. On the palate, the full-bodied texture is remarkably creamy and balanced, offering layered flavours of rich fruit cake, toasted almonds, cinnamon, juicy mandarin orange, manuka honey, muscovado sugar, and a delicate touch of white pepper. The finish is long, warm, and spicy, leaving trailing notes of dark chocolate, toasted walnuts, and dark fruit compote. This expression is matured in a combination of ex-sherry and ex-bourbon casks before being finished in first-fill and refill sherry hogsheads, and is bottled at an alcohol by volume of 46%.

As the pinnacle age-statement expression in the distillery core portfolio, this quarter-century single malt has achieved notable critical recognition. It received an outstanding score of 93 points from Whisky Advocate in 2023, reflecting its standing among international whisky connoisseurs.
