Product description
Arran 10 Year Old 'Arran Barley' is a limited-edition terroir-driven single malt Scotch whisky produced at the Lochranza Distillery on the Isle of Arran, Scotland. Released as the debut expression of the distillery's "Arran Barley" series, this bottling focuses on the concept of local agriculture and provenance, mirroring popular industry movements toward heritage grains and regional terroir. The whisky was first distilled in 2012 using 100% locally grown barley and matured for a full decade on the island itself.
Spirit Description
This limited edition is a unique variation of the core 10-year-old profile, relying on Optic and Concerto barley grown exclusively at local island sites, including Bellevue Farm by the Currie family. It is matured in a classic combination of first-fill bourbon barrels and second-fill sherry hogsheads.
Color: Clear and natural gold with no added coloring.
Aroma: Fresh and inviting, featuring the distillery's signature green apple and ripe pear orchard fruits layered with lemon peel, vanilla custard, fresh barley sugar, and mild oak tannins.
Palate: Rich, textured, and significantly more grain-forward than the standard bottling. It features malted biscuits, heather honey, candied peaches, and lemon curd, balanced by a sharp kick of white pepper, ginger, and a bittersweet edge of grapefruit and gooseberries.
Body: It offers a thicker, drier, and more full-bodied mouthfeel than the flagship release, driven by a profound and pure grainy core.
Finish: Medium to long and warming, leaving a distinct impression of dry cider, anise, breakfast cereals, and lingering oak spices.
ABV: This expression is bottled at a robust 50% (non-chill filtered).
