Product description
Tignanello originates from Italy, within the Tuscany region and the heart of the Chianti Classico zone between the Greve and Pesa river valleys. Produced by the historic Marchesi Antinori family, Tignanello is celebrated as the pioneer of the "Super Tuscan" revolution. First created in 1970 as a single-vineyard Chianti Classico Riserva, Piero Antinori and legendary oenologist Giacomo Tachis redefined Italian winemaking in 1971 by removing white grape varieties, incorporating non-indigenous Bordeaux grapes (Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc), and aging the wine in small French oak barrels (barriques). Harvested from a 57-hectare southwest-facing single vineyard characterized by limestone and marl soils (albarese and galestro), Tignanello’s philosophy centers on bridging Tuscan Sangiovese typicity with modern French structure and refined elegance.
Wine Description
This red wine displays a deep, intense ruby-purple appearance in the glass, developing subtle garnet reflections near the rim as it matures. It possesses a full-bodied, complex, and muscular structure defined by a silky, mouth-coating, and supple texture balanced by a firm mineral backbone. The sensory profile is highly expressive and multi-layered, opening with a bold bouquet of ripe black cherries, red currants, and dark plums, seamlessly integrated with notes of dried violets, tobacco leaf, espresso beans, dark chocolate, graphite, and subtle sweet baking spices. On the expansive palate, it delivers a concentrated core of red and dark berry fruit, supported by fine-grained, noble tannins and a vibrant thread of natural acidity. The finish is remarkably long, structured, and persistent, leaving lingering echoes of cocoa, licorice, and savory herbs.
