This vibrant and "muscular" single-vineyard red wine originates from Italy, specifically from the Pietrarizzo vineyard on the northern slopes of Mount Etna in Sicily. Sourced from a basaltic site at 650 to 700 meters in elevation, this "Cru" is renowned for producing grapes with limited yields and high concentration. The Tornatore family, winemaking pioneers on the volcano since 1865, utilizes sustainable practices to ensure the wine reflects the raw energy of Etna's ashy, mineral-rich soils.

Wine Description

Tornatore Pietrarizzo Etna Rosso 2021 presents a bright ruby red color and a "tense, chewy" profile. The sensory profile is highly aromatic and balanced, featuring a nose of ripe raspberries, strawberries, and cranberry, layered with sophisticated notes of cinnamon, blood orange, and fresh Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied and juicy, showcasing a surprising "crunchy" freshness and snappy acidity. It is characterized by its firm, chalky tannins and a long, stony mineral finish that reflects its volcanic origin. This 100% Nerello Mascalese typically reaches an ABV of 14.5%. The wine was matured for 12 months in a combination of large French oak barrels and concrete vats, followed by three months in the bottle.
