Product description
This additive-free blanco tequila originates from Mexico, produced in the Highlands (Los Altos) of Jalisco at NOM 1548 (Destiladora del Valle de Tequila). Founded by former Don Julio Master Distiller Marco Cedano and his son Rodrigo, Tromba takes its name from the heavy highland rains that nourish the region's Blue Weber agaves. Crafted using 100% estate-grown agaves harvested at peak maturity (around 7 years), the piñas are cooked in traditional brick ovens (hornos), roller-mill crushed, and fermented using proprietary wild yeast. Following double distillation in small copper pot stills, this blanco is bottled unaged at 80 proof (40.0% ABV). The 1-Litre format is a bartender favorite, delivering a clean, agave-forward highland spirit built specifically for high-volume, craft-cocktail execution.
Spirit Description
This blanco displays crystal clarity with bright silver flashes and medium, clean legs in the glass. On the nose, it is fresh, crisp, and aromatic, opening with vibrant sweet cooked agave, bright lime zest, and green apple, followed by subtle undertones of fresh mint, white pepper spice, and damp highland earth. On the palate, it feels medium-bodied, soft, and silky—a signature of Marco Cedano's distillation style—delivering an initial wave of natural agave sweetness, grapefruit oil, and floral orange blossom. As it flows across the tongue, a gentle prickle of white pepper and light mineral salt emerges without any harsh ethanol burn. The finish is crisp, clean, and refreshing, leaving trailing impressions of sweet cooked agave, lemon peel, and a soft, dry pepper warmth.
Accolades
Tromba Blanco holds strong critical acclaim among industry bartenders, mixologists, and additive-free tequila purists. Earning high ratings across platforms like Tequila Matchmaker and securing Gold Medals at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, reviewers consistently applaud it for its exceptional value-to-quality ratio. Critics highlight its clean Highland terroir profile, noting that its smooth mouthfeel and absence of artificial additives make it one of the most reliable workhorse blancos on the market.
