Heathcote Shiraz is exemplified in the 2016 Max's Garden. Excellent colour with a completely impenetrable inky black core and a rich dark purple black tint. Intense aromas of rich black cherries, blackberries, and liquorice float from the glass, layered atop infusions of fennel, crushed rock, subtly smoked vanillin cedar, and light pepper. Rich, sumptuous flavours of juicy black cherry, blackberry, and liquorice overwhelm the palate against a backdrop of crushed rock, vanillin cedar, and chilli pepper. The wine has a dry, inky finish with lively, youthful acidity that works well with the sturdy, robust tannins to give a solid foundation for the long term. Blackberry, ripe black cherry, liquorice, crushed rock, vanillin cedar, and spicy pepper flavours linger for a long time.
