Product description

This wine originates from the Barolo denomination in the Piedmont region of Italy, specifically from the historic Bricco delle Viole vineyard. Established in the village of Vergne, the Vaira family has been a pioneer of organic viticulture since Aldo Vaira began revitalizing the family farm in the late 1960s. Their winemaking philosophy is guided by patience and a deep respect for the high-altitude terroir, aiming to produce wines that are both graceful and capable of profound ageing.

Wine Description

Bricco delle Viole is a medium to full bodied red wine of exceptional stature and breed. On the nose, it offers an ethereal and beautifully layered bouquet of violets, dark red fruits, and crushed flowers, accented by notes of incense, balsamic, and a hint of eucalyptus. The palate is incisive and rich, revealing flavours of cherry, raspberry, and plum alongside complex savoury edges of leather, liquorice, and ashy stone. It is characterized by polished, fine-meshed tannins and a vibrant, mineral acidity that leads to a long, persistent, and flavourful finish.

Accolades

  • "Wine Advocate - 97 points."

  • "Vinous - 96 points."

  • "Decanter - 95 points."

Food Pairing

This Barolo is a perfect companion for roasted meats, herb crusted lamb, or truffle infused dishes. It also pairs beautifully with aged hard cheeses and roasted mushrooms, which complement its earthy and mineral undertones.
