Produced in the heart of the Pomerol appellation on Bordeaux's Right Bank in France, Vieux Chateau Certan is a historic estate renowned for its exceptional terroir and meticulous winemaking. Owned by the Thienpont family since 1924, the property is currently managed by Alexandre Thienpont and his son Guillaume, who have upheld a philosophy focused on purity, elegance, and the pursuit of vinicultural excellence. The vineyard is famous for its diverse soils, including deep clay and gravel, and its signature pink capsule—a legacy of founder Georges Thienpont.

Wine Description

The 2019 Vieux Chateau Certan displays a striking, deep purple-black hue and offers a complex sensory profile. The aromatic bouquet is highly perfumed, unfurling with notes of cassis, black cherries, and raspberries mingled with violets, sweet spices, truffle, and a hint of Seville orange marmalade. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and multi-dimensional, featuring tightly wound layers of vibrant blue and black fruits supported by silky, powdery tannins and a superb bead of acidity. It is a seamless and harmonious wine that concludes with a long, resonant 'peacock's tail' finish.
