Warre's Port Vintage 2000

Product description

The history of the Warre family in Portugal dates back to William Warre, who was born in India in 1706, where his parents and grandparents were long established members of the East India Company. In 1729, he arrived in Portugal and became a partner in the export company, Messrs. Clark, Thornton & Warre, which exported Portuguese wine among other goods. By the close of the 18th century, Warre’s had become one of the leading companies in the Port wine trade.

Very dark purple in color, inky and concentrated. Lovely fresh aromas of violets, layer and layer of ripe blackberry fruit, intensely rich and very full bodied. Sweetness and tannins bind this wine together to form a perfect harmonious structure, a wine which has all the potential to age well into the 2nd half of the 21st century.

91 Points - Wine Spectator

Lovely floral aromas of berries, violets and minerals. Full-bodied, with firm tannins and a racy finish. A harmonious yet well-toned Warre.

91 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Straightforward yet intense, ripe black raspberry liqueur and cassis scents are followed by a medium to full-bodied, elegant, restrained, balanced port with moderately high tannin as well as outstanding purity. It is a vintage port with impeccable finesse.
