Introduction
Wemyss Spice King Blended Malt Whisky is a Blended Malt Scotch Whisky from the country of Scotland. The company, Wemyss Malts, is an independent, family-owned business established in 2005 by William and Isabella Wemyss, with a long history connected to Scottish whisky. The Wemyss family's connections to the industry date back to the early 19th century, and their land in Fife has been used to grow barley for whisky production for decades. The 'Spice King' name is one of Wemyss Malts' core blended malts, intended to represent its predominant flavour profile of warming spice.
Spirit Description
Spice King is a small batch, hand-crafted Scotch whisky expression, intriguingly complex with spice, subtle smoke, maritime, and citrus notes. It is a Highland-style blended malt that draws its flavour from the blending of single malts from various regions, including a west coast Island malt, along with Highland, Lowland, Speyside, and a touch of Islay malt. The current core expression is a No Age Statement (NAS) whisky. On the nose, it is rich with spiced orange and lively blossom. The palate features deep ginger syrup with a blast of salty sea spray, pepper, and aromatic spice. The body is described as big and full. The finish lingers with warm smoke and tingling black pepper. It is non-chill filtered and bottled at 46% ABV.
