Wild Life Sherry Cask Single Malt originates from the heart of the Canadian Rockies in Canmore, Alberta. Founded in 2017 by Keith Robinson and Matt Widmer, the distillery is an independent, artisanal producer dedicated to the 'mountain lifestyle' and the use of regional ingredients. This specific expression marks the distillery's first venture into sherry cask maturation, emphasizing their commitment to handcrafted, small batch Canadian whisky.

Spirit Description

This single malt features a rich, liquid gold appearance and is crafted from 100% Alberta malted barley. It is aged for a minimum of four years, initially maturing in 53 gallon first fill ex-bourbon barrels before being finished in Pedro Ximénez (PX) sherry hogsheads sourced from a traditional Spanish bodega. The aroma is indulgent, offering notes of chocolate covered raisins, chewy dried figs, and caramelized brown sugar. On the palate, it provides a medium to full body with a rounded, malty profile, featuring baking spices, raisin bran, and fruit leather. The finish is long and textured, leaving a soft blend of French and American oak. It is bottled at 46.1% ABV and is non chill filtered with natural colour.
