Product description

Introduction

This decadent red dessert wine originates from Italy, specifically the Veneto region within the heart of the Valpolicella Classico zone. Founded in 1960 by Sergio and Carla Zenato, the winery began with a pioneering spirit on the banks of Lake Garda and has since grown into a benchmark producer of northern Italy. Now led by the second generation, Alberto and Nadia Zenato, the family maintains a philosophy of "quality, passion, and tradition," emphasizing a deep respect for indigenous varieties and the unique mineral-rich "Terra Rossa" soils of their Costalunga estate.

Wine Description

The Zenato Recioto presents a deep garnet red colour with brilliant clarity in the glass. The nose offers an elegant and spicy bouquet, characterized by intense aromas of black cherry, Marasca cherries in alcohol, and plum, layered with notes of dried fig, cocoa, and vanilla. On the palate, the wine is luxuriously sweet and medium-bodied, where a 'fruit salad' of ripe blackberry and raisin flavours is balanced by soft, silky tannins and a refreshing acid line.

Crafted from a traditional blend of 80% Corvina Veronese, 10% Rondinella, and 10% Oseleta, the wine is produced using the appassimento method, where hand-picked grapes are dried for several months to concentrate their sugars and flavours. It is aged in tonneaux for 24 months followed by a further 12 months in the bottle. Stylistically, it is celebrated for its distinctive balance and velvet-like texture, offering a long, complex finish with hints of chocolate and sweet spice. It has a longevity of 10–15 years, making it an excellent candidate for the cellar.
