Product description

Originating from Italy in the Piedmont region, specifically within the Langhe DOC appellation, Gaja 'Rossj Bass' Langhe Bianco 2025 represents an elegant, aromatic, and refined expression of Italian white winemaking. Crafted by the iconic Gaja family, 'Rossj Bass' takes its name from Angelo Gaja’s youngest daughter, Rossana (Rossj), and the lower elevation vineyard plot (bass) in Barbaresco where the original parcel was cultivated. Sourced from choice estate vineyards in Barbaresco and Serralunga d'Alba planted on steep limestone and clay-marl soils, the winemaking philosophy combines whole-cluster pressing, temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel, and a brief maturation in oak barriques for approximately 6 to 7 months. The result is a vibrant, sophisticated white wine that bridges the rich texture of Chardonnay with the aromatic lift of Sauvignon Blanc and distinct Piedmontese mineral precision.

Wine Description

The wine presents a clear, luminous pale straw yellow colour with bright greenish-gold reflections along the rim. An expressive, highly perfumed bouquet opens with inviting aromas of ripe citrus, green apple, white peach, and nectarine, interwoven with sophisticated notes of white blossoms, lemongrass, wild herbs, crushed limestone, and a subtle touch of toasted oak spice. On the palate, it is medium bodied, silky, and crisp, delivering generous flavours of citrus zest, orchard fruit, and saline mineral earth, all supported by a bright, mouthwatering spine of natural acidity. Framed by a smooth, satiny texture derived from controlled lees contact and a dynamic mid-palate structure, it concludes with a long, persistent finish marked by lingering lemon peel, fresh floral notes, and a clean mineral grip. Composed primarily of Chardonnay blended with a small proportion of Sauvignon Blanc, this 2025 release offers an optimal drinking window of 2026–2036. Stylistically, it combines brilliant freshness and floral aromatics with Gaja's benchmark weight, purity, and balance.
