Product description

Originating from Italy in the Piedmont region, specifically within the Langhe DOC appellation, Gaja 'Sito Moresco' Langhe 2024 represents an elegant, modern, and harmonious expression of Piedmontese terroir. The name translates to 'Moresco's Site', paying homage to the former owner of the historic vineyard parcel in Barbaresco where the blend originated. Sourced from choice estate vineyards in Barbaresco, Treiso, and Serralunga d'Alba planted on steep limestone, clay, and marl soils, the winemaking philosophy under the Gaja family involves separate parcel fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, followed by 12 months of maturation in oak barriques and neutral oak casks. The result is a sophisticated red wine that seamlessly bridges the vibrant aromatic lift of Nebbiolo with the plush fruit and velvety texture of international varietals.

Wine Description

The wine presents a deep, clear ruby red colour with bright purple-garnet reflections along the rim. An expressive, highly perfumed bouquet opens with inviting aromas of ripe dark cherry, wild blackberry, red plum, and black currant, interwoven with noble notes of crushed dried rose petals, subtle cocoa powder, tobacco leaf, and warm cedar spice. On the palate, it is medium-to-full bodied, smooth, and supple, delivering generous flavours of juicy dark fruit, tart red berry curd, and mineral earth, all supported by a bright, mouthwatering spine of natural acidity. Framed by fine, velvety tannins and a harmonious mid-palate structure, it concludes with a long, persistent finish marked by lingering red berries, savory Mediterranean herbs, and a subtle mineral lift. Composed of a blend of Nebbiolo, Barbera, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot, this 2024 release offers an optimal drinking window of 2026–2038. Stylistically, it combines Gaja's hallmark finesse and high-altitude freshness with immediate accessibility and polished elegance.
